E&C: Behind the Business- Getting to Know Lauren
First off, The Four Sisters unite our voices in saying Thank you to you! We love sharing our little space here on E&C with you! We have been so overwhelmed with all the excitement and support we have received since starting this blog. We appreciate you for taking a few minutes out of your day to check in with us!
We sure love our cyber friends!
Since starting this blog we have received one question over and over again: "Which sister make the merch for your Etsy Store?"
Thus, we are starting a new segment called:
Throughout the course of the next couple months we will feature each sister so y'all can get to know each of us and what we do behind the scenes of E&C.
With the Holidays in full swing and our Thanksgiving Merch rolling out this Wednesday, {eeekkk!!!} we want you to get to know Lauren, the oldest of The Four Sisters and the brilliance behind our Etsy Store.
So, without further ado, may I introduce Lauren...
Q: Where do you live?
A: San Francisco, in
a studio apartment (450 sq. feet) with my husband and 9-month-old baby boy.
A: Mostly career reasons, for both my husband and myself. My specialty group is the largest in the country in San Francisco, meaning I have the most opportunity to learn and serve varied clients here. For my husband it is the proximity to Asia. He often has business travel that will take him across seas, and living in a major city on the West Coast helps minimize his commute. That's what brought us here, but the city itself has kept us here. We love all the street festivals, amazing restaurants, and diversity we've found in the city.
Q: What do you do for
a living?
A: I'm a CPA and tax
accountant, working at the number one accounting and professional services firm
in the world. I specialize in taxes for
high net worth individuals - preparing and advising on their personal, trust,
gift, children, and often family business tax returns. I love, however, to use my skills to help
not-so-high-net-worth friends and family with their tax returns. That's why I chose to study and make a career
out of tax in the first place - I love helping people do something that they
could otherwise not do on their own.
Q: What does your craft table look like?
A: I have a 4 foot banquet table that my husband gave me a couple years ago as a Christmas gift. When folded up, it fits perfectly in the spare doorway in our closet, which is where we store it. Often, when my husband is away on business travel, I'll pull it out along with my two totes and three drawers on wheels and craft. I guess you could say I have a portable craft room!

Q: When do you find
time to craft?
A: Nights, weekends,
days off, and anywhere in between.
Sometimes if I need to finish up a custom order, my crafts even make it
to the office with me for crafting during lunch. Crafting equals relaxing to me, and with a
family and demanding career, finding the time to relax and recharge has become
all the more important. I find that I
can best take care of my family, church, and professional responsibilities when
I've taken care of myself. Plus, when
I'm finished I usually end up with something cute to give away to someone!
Q: Where do you find
your inspiration?
A: Everywhere -
friends, family, Pinterest (of course), magazines. My favorite, however, is finding inspiration
from our readers. When we get an email
request, my mind runs wild. Often the requestor has a few ideas and needs for
the product and it's my job to put the pieces together and discover the
undiscovered. I love it!
Q: Have you always
been crafty?
A: Yes... but I
definitely got craftier once I met and married my husband. His mother and sister have the best taste in
cute crafts around. I will never forget
when I first visited the home of my now-husband's parents. My mind was blown with the paper,
embellishments, ink, and tools just waiting to create. I didn't know it was possible to have such a
set up, and immediately knew it needed to be part of my future.
Q: What is your
favorite thing to craft?
A: Cards and tags to accompany a handcrafted bag or box of homemade treats.

Love it!! I'm checking out the store right now! I can't wait to learn more about the rest of the sisters (and maybe brother ).
ReplyDeleteYes, yes we definitely need to do a highlight on the brother sometime. He's something special. Let us know if you ever want something specific in the store. We aim to please!
