DIY {Mini} Polaroid Magnets

Happy {late} MLK day everyone! It was clear skies and 60 degrees in SF yesterday, and I was glad I didn't have to spend such a beautiful day in the office. 

I spent the morning at Union Square to finish up some Christmas returns. Here's the thing though - my plan was to go to the three stores to complete my returns and that's it. From the number of bags I brought home from my shopping trip though, that clearly didn't happen. I decided that I really shouldn't be allowed to shop by myself, because I end up buying all sorts of things that I really don't need. We can solve that problem another time though. I have such a fun craft to share with you all today!

This is actually a craft my husband found online, researched, and planned for us to do. It was fun to see him get so excited about a craft project! Without any further ado, let's get started.

Here's what you'll need:

- Printed pictures using this polaroid template

- Mod podge

- Sponge brush

- Magnets

- Hot glue gun

- X-acto knife (or kitchen scissors)

Step 1: After you decide which pictures you want to use, you'll need to insert them into this template, and print them on photo paper. You can make photos any size you want!

Step 2: Cut out your polaroid prints, and mount them onto cardboard using mod podge and a sponge brush. Mod podge the entire photo as well.

Step 3: Magnets. You'll want to get strong enough ones that will actually stay on your fridge. When I set out to find some good quality ones, I had no idea that magnets were so expensive. I found a pack of 10 at the local dollar store though, and simply had my husband rip the plastic covering off of them. Worked for me!

Step 4: After your mod podge has COMPLETELY dried (overnight to be sure), cut out your polaroids. I found it easiest to use an x-acto knife, but kitchen scissors will work fine.

Step 5: Glue a magnet to the back of your polaroids using a hot glue gun.

It's that easy! I love having mini pictures holding up all of the other pictures on my fridge. It's fun, different, and a great way to bring a little personalization to your kitchen.
