"It's A Boy" Baby Shower

Elephant & Chick hosted their first baby shower a few weeks ago. We were so excited to celebrate our cousin Allie, and the upcoming birth of her first boy! Robyn designed the invite we mailed to all our guests:

We hosted the shower at my parents house in Salt Lake City, but the planning and preparation was definitely a group effort. We had packages mailed from San Antonio to Salt Lake City, and I carefully packed things in my carry on from San Francisco to Salt Lake City.

This onesie banner kills be every time I see a picture. It was such a great idea! We attached the paper onsies on ribbon with mini clothespins, and hung the banner off the mantle. Allie sat in front of the banner to open gifts, so it acted at the perfect backdrop for all the photos.

My mom found the most adorable sugar cookies you've ever seen in your entire life. We used them as part of the table centerpiece. They were almost too cute to eat! (Don't worry - I definitely ate my fair share of them).

We also used ribbon to tie napkins to silverware to look like little bowties. It's those finishing touches that make all the difference when planning a party.

During lunch, we encouraged guests to participate in a short activity for Allie. As you can see in the picture above, we had a basket full of diapers as the table centerpiece. Guests were invited to write an encouraging little message to Allie and Chris (her husband) for all those late night diaper changings.

We hung the diapers with mini clothespins so everyone could read them. I always forget how little newborn diapers really are!

I think my favorite part of the decor was the favors we handed out to the guests at the end of the party. We tied a blue ribbon on a lollipop and glued "Allie is about to Pop!" on the front (clever, I know). I always love parties where I, as a guest, go home with a little gift.

We are looking forward to our next shower - celebrating a baby girl! Stay tuned for pictures from our "Baby Love" shower coming up in a few weeks!
