A Package Full of Sunshine

I have lived in San Francisco for 10 months now. Time has flown by! My husband and I love exploring the city and trying all the delicious food it has to offer. (Stayed tuned - I'm planning to share a Local's Guide to San Francisco on the blog soon!)

One of the hardest things about living in the City is being away from home. Just like anyone who has moved away from home for the first time, it's hard to leave family and friends you've known your whole life.

A few weeks ago, one of my best friends needed a little pick-me-up. Back when we were college roommates, I would have picked up a large Cherry Diet Coke from McDonald's and turned on an episode of Gilmore Girls for us to watch and things would have been golden. But being away from home, I felt helpless. Does McDonald's deliver??

I wanted to do something though cuz that's what good friends do. I decided to send her a package that would make her smile and brighten her day. I sent her the brightest thing I knew:

A package full of sunshine.

The concept is simple. I literally went to the store and bought anything and everything that I could find that was yellow, and small enough to send in a package.

Besides the fact that everything is bright yellow, who wouldn't want to open a package full of yummy snacks! If you didn't want to send so many treats, you could easily send sunglasses, chips, Triscuits, stickers, lip gloss, lotion, small box of Cherrios, Mott's applesauce - the list goes on and on! Once you start googling "yellow packaged snacks," you can start to go a little overboard...

I lined my box with yellow tissue paper and loaded in all the goodies.

And of course, it wouldn't be a true Shannon package without a little bit of confetti.

Even though I wasn't physically there, I was able to find a way to cheer up my friend. So who are you going to send a little bit of sunshine to?
